Coalition Letter

A coalition of advocates for students, borrowers, consumers, civil rights, labor union members, researchers, veterans, and other critical stakeholders wrote to U.S. Senate leaders in opposition to the damaging provisions in the House-passed reconciliation bill.

On April 18, 2025, TICAS joined the Financial Aid for All Coalition (FA4All) in a letter of support for Senate Bill 305, which would require California Community Colleges (CCC) to ensure that students complete the FAFSA or CADAA.

TICAS sent a letter to the California Legislature opposing SB 790, which would allow the state to join a higher education reciprocity agreement but could exempt out-of-state institutions from key consumer protection laws.

On April 8, 2025, TICAS joined a letter along with consumer advocates in support of strengthening California’s enforcement and accountability authority through the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE).

More than 50 organizations signed a letter to Congress today urging against higher education cuts that would harm students and borrowers in the budget reconciliation process.

Today, TICAS joined more than 100 organizations to urge members of Congress to shore up funding for the Pell Grant program to close a looming funding shortfall and protect millions of students from eligibility cuts.
