Michigan

The TICAS Michigan team strives to educate, advocate, and provide resources for communities and policymakers to make informed higher education policy decisions. Our work is community- and student-centered, using these perspectives to identify our policy priorities, shape our proposals, and inform our advocacy and research strategies. We also build power among students and community leaders through training and fellowship opportunities and student-centered policy coalitions.  

The main themes in our work are:  

• Access – Enhancing students’ exposure to high-quality career and postsecondary education opportunities and providing them with adequate support and resources to pursue those opportunities.  
• Affordability – Helping students to cover the full cost of college by equitably expanding financial aid and other resources and minimizing dependence on student debt.  
• Success – Streamlining and simplifying access to clear information, comprehensive support systems, and basic needs resources to support students’ success across the pipeline.
