• What are you most excited about working in the Michigan policy space? I am most excited to work in the Michigan policy space to serve as a voice for those currently in and hoping to enroll in higher education. As a public school teacher and graduate student, I am passionate about post-secondary education literacy and fostering an understanding of the opportunities available to students. I am excited to research and advocate for the best methods of both retention and acceptance of those who hope to pursue higher education.
  • What impact would you like to leave for students in the higher education policy space? I hope to empower everyone to find their position and success in pursuit of higher education. Not one path is linear and I aspire for all students, current and prospective alike, to be knowledgeable of the resources available to them and have access to the instruments vital to retain and support achievement in those pursuing post-secondary education. I hope to most impact the “bridge” that spans those who are already enrolled in higher education to those hoping to enroll. The process to get there is long, expensive, and many times confusing. Offering support and guidance to these individuals will help them span the “bridge” and give them the understanding needed to finish their path of higher education.
  • What is something you wish people knew about pursuing higher education in Michigan? I wish people had access to more knowledge and transparency about the admission process, financial aid, disability services, and grant opportunities provided by post-secondary institutions. These places of education are already flowing with benefits that many students miss because they simply do not know that they exist. Many of these services are neglected due to the nature they are administered or because they are not known. My hope is for students to be granted more guidance in the realm of higher education and the opportunities already standing are utilized to their full capacity.
