Armando Lizarraga, a native of Inglewood, California, is a doctoral candidate at The University of Texas at Austin. He has held various positions, including peer mentor, instructor inside a women’s carceral facility, policy analyst, and research assistant. Armando’s research focuses on the intersection of incarceration and higher education, specifically on the financing of prison education programs.  

  

Armando earned an Associate of Arts in general studies from El Camino College, a Bachelor of Arts in Chicana/o studies and sociology from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a Master of Arts in higher and postsecondary education from Teachers College, Columbia University.
