Tim Ward is the Senior Director of Strategic Communications and External Affairs at The Institute for College Access & Success (TICAS). As a first-generation college graduate and former Pell recipient, Tim intrinsically understands the role that access to higher education plays in advancing social mobility. At TICAS, he leads efforts to expand the organization’s reach and influence by enhancing its reputation, strengthening relationships with key stakeholders, and raising the visibility of its leaders and experts. Collaborating across teams, he manages strategic communications and outreach efforts to shape the TICAS’s public image and drive its impact.
Previously, Tim served as Communications Director at the National WIC Association (NWA), where he managed high-impact campaigns, shaped organizational messaging, and elevated the visibility of WIC programs during pivotal public health and funding crises. Prior to his work at NWA, he led communications campaigns that resulted in the restoration of Pell Grants and New York State’s Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) for people in prison.
Originally from West Virginia, Tim holds a Master of Arts in Political Science (Public Administration) and dual Bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and Spanish from Marshall University.
