Nicolette is a Senior Program Associate at TICAS based in Oakland, CA. She primarily leads the policy and advocacy portfolio focused on strengthening state protections for students attending private and public postsecondary institutions, state higher education oversight and coordination, reciprocity issues, increasing quality, and racial and economic equity in higher education.
Before joining TICAS, Nicolette served as the Senior Community Organizer at Public Rights Project where she carried out partnership building activities and designed/conducted research projects to help direct government enforcement of civil and workers’ rights. Previously, she has worked as a social worker at the Arizona Department of Child Safety and a political organizer for a handful of progressive organizations and campaigns (most notably NextGen America and Mi Familia Vota).
Nicolette holds a Bachelor’s in Science in Psychology and a Minor in Political Science from Arizona State University. In her free time, she likes to DJ, jog around Lake Merritt, and play open-world RPGs.
