Nicholas Hillman is a Professor in the School of Education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Hillman’s research examines how finance, policy, and geography shape educational opportunities in the United States. He recently co-edited the book Civil Rights and Federal Higher Education (Harvard Education Press) and has testified to Congress and served as an expert witness in a federal student loan case. He serves on several academic journal editorial boards and directs the Student Success Through Applied Research Lab, a research-practice partnership with UW-Madison’s Division of Enrollment Management. Dr. Hillman is also a faculty affiliate with the Institute for Research on Poverty and La Follette School of Public Affairs. He earned his PhD in educational leadership and policy studies and his MPA at Indiana University-Bloomington.
