TICAS Letter Supporting California’s Protecting Students from Creditor Colleges Act (AB 1160)

On June 4, 2024, TICAS submitted a letter of support to the Chair of the California Senate Judiciary Committee for The Protecting Students from Creditor Colleges Act (AB 1160). This bill would protect students from the economic harms associated with institutional debt by extending critical consumer protections that will prohibit institutions from pursuing harmful practices to collect on this debt, while also provide much-needed transparency through data collection and reporting.
