TICAS Supportive Letter for the House College Affordability Act
The College Affordability Act, introduced by House Education & Labor Committee Democrats, makes critical new investments in Pell Grants, funds a renewed federal-state partnership, makes student loans more affordable, protects students against low-quality colleges, and improves federal postsecondary data collection and reporting.
Our letter to Chairman Bobby Scott outlines how the bill includes key proposals that will significantly improve college affordability and accountability, and that we look forward to continuing to work with Congress to build on this proposal by bringing the costs of college into even closer reach, reducing equity gaps in college funding as well as access and attainment, and ensuring that federal aid is extended only to quality programs.
