Statement on the President’s Nomination of John B. King Jr. for Secretary of Education
We applaud the President’s nomination of John B. King Jr. as the U.S. Secretary of Education. Acting Secretary King is committed to improving college access, affordability, and completion. His career as a leader and educator has focused on the need to ensure every student has access to a high-quality education. It is important for the Education Department to have a Senate-confirmed leader overseeing its important work, including implementing a simplified FAFSA process, providing relief to defrauded borrowers, and improving the quality of loan servicing. We urge the Senate to act promptly on his nomination.
