Coalition Letter Urging a Proactive, Student-Centered Response to Troubled For-Profit Colleges

Letter from 46 organizations representing students, consumers, veterans, faculty and staff, civil rights, and college access, urging the Department of Education to develop a proactive, risk-based, student-centered strategy for dealing with companies that may be breaking the law and putting students and taxpayers in jeopardy. Specifically, the letter urges the Department to act publicly as soon as signs of trouble emerge, to prepare appropriately for school closures, and to approve sales only to schools with a proven track record.
